Looking for families in White Rock, BC, Canada
Hi, my name is Richard. I have been formally working in childcare for a year now, and I love working and playing with kids of all ages.
I have an Early Childhood Educator Assistant Certificate, a Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR-C and AED, and FOODSAFE Level 1.
I worked as a substitute out of school care, group care, and preschool educator, primarily working with children ages 2 to 11. This was more of a guiding and mentoring role than tutoring, which I enjoyed. I loved getting the kids outside in all weather, they don't care about cold, rain, or snow if they're having fun! I learned a lot of new games and activities suitable for indoors and out. I was always willing to listen when someone wasn't having a good day, and help come up with possible solutions to whatever problem they were having. I maintained behaviour expectations by emphasizing choices, and clearly outlining the consequences for each choice (a good choice earns a reward, a poor choice does not). I helped the younger children with self-care, mostly helping them open snacks and lunches, settle down for naps, and maintain personal hygiene by hand-washing and changing diapers/pull-ups or helping them use the toilet/potty. I learned a lot in these positions, especially that I love working and playing with younger children, and they love having me around.
I don't currently have a usable driver's license, I have recently been allowed to get my L after years of being denied due to an eye condition that I am slowly fixing. I love taking transit, if I say it can work, don't worry about it on my behalf.
